Game two of the four game series between the Savannah Sand Gnats and the Greenville Drive was played in front of 3,017 fans Friday evening at Grayson Stadium. It was an exciting game with Savannah winning 2-1 in twelve innings. With the win and a loss by the Charleston RiverDogs, Savannah wins the first half Southern Division Championship.
Savannah scored a run in the 2nd inning when leading off, rfMaiki De La Cruz doubled and scored on a single by lfStefon Sabol.
Greenville tied the game at 1-1 in the 8th inning. 2bMookie Betts singled, advanced to third on a double by ssJose Vinicio, and scored on a ground out.
In the 12th inning for Savannah, 2bJeff Reynolds and ssPhillip Evans singled. DhEudy Piña walked to load the bases. On a 3-2 count, cfBrandon Nimmo filed out to center field to score Reynolds with the winning run.
Savannah starter, Steven Matz, pitched 5 1/3 shutout innings, allowing 2hits, 2BB, and struck out 10.
Julian Hilario pitched 1 2/3 innings, allowed 1 hit, 2BB, and struck out 3.
Pul Sewald pitched 3 innings, gave up 1 run on 2 hits, 1BB, and struck out 3.
Brett Mitchell (Won, 3-2), pitched the final 2 innings, gave up 2 hits and struck out 3.
Game three of the series starts at 6:05 pm Saturday at Grayson Stadium.
