Savannah Sand Gnats 4 Delmarva Shorebirds 0

Game one of the three game series between the Savannah Sand Gnats and the Delmarva Shorebirds was played in front of 1,361 fans Tuesday evening at Grayson Stadium. Delmarva out hit Savannah 6-3, but Savannah won 4-0.
Savannah starter, Kevin McGowan, was brilliant, shuting out Delmarva for 6 2/3 innings, allowed only 3 hits and struck out 7 improving his record to 1-1 with the win.
In the first inning, Savannah scored their first run without a hit. The first two batters walked and the bases were loaded when a batter got hit by a pitch. A walk to Stefan Sabol,lf scored a run.
Savannah rallied to score three runs in the 6th inning. L. J. Mazzilli,2b led off the inning with a single and scored on a triple by Jared King,rf. A wild pitch allowed King to score. A sacrifice fly by catcher, Colton Plaia scored a run.

Gnats/Drive game suspended

The Savannah Sand Gnats and the Greenville Drive played their final game of the series Saturday at Grayson Stadium. The game was suspended because of rain.
The game was suspended in the bottom of the 6th inning with  the score tied at 3-3. Savannah catcher, Jeff Glenn, led off the inning with a double, when the rain came and the tarp was placed on the field.
Both starting pitchers struggled. Savannah's John Michael Gant, gave up 8 hits and 3 earned runs. Greenville starter, Mario Alcantara, walked 5 batters and allowed 3 runs in just over three innings.
The game will be resumed Wednesday, May 14th prior to the regularly scheduled game at Grayson Stadium.

Greenville Drive 4 Savannah Sand Gnats 0

Game one of the three game series between the Savannah Sand Gnats and the Greenville Drive was played in front of 3,642 fans Thursday evening at Grayson Stadium.
Greenville utilized strong pitching, shutting out Savannah on 5 hits and winning the game 4-0.
Starting Greenville pitcher, Teddy Stankiewicz, was stellar, pitched 6 shutout innings, allowed 3 hits, 0 walks, and struck out three.
The Drive scored their first run in the 3rd inning when Jimmy Rider,3b walked, reached second on a wild pitch, and scored on a single by Kevin Mager,lf.
In the 8th inning, Greenville scored 3 runs(2 unearned) on a walk, a triple and two Savannah errors.
Sand Gnat third baseman,Jeff McNeil, was 2-for-4.

Augusta GreenJackets 8 Savannah Sand Gnats 3

Game three of the three game series between the Savannah Sand Gnats and the Augusta GreenJackets was played in front of 1,643 fans Wednesday at Grayson Stadium.
Augusta, sent 12 batters to the plate,  errupted for 8 runs in the 3rd inning on 5 hits, 4 base on balls and one Savannah error. A single by Christian Arroyo,ss scored 2 runs, a double by Leonardo Rojas,3b drove in a pair of runs, and Cristian Paulino,cf drove in two runs.
Savannah scored their three runs in the 6th inning. Colton Plaia, catcher, walked, advanced to second on a ground out, and scored on a single by Gavin Cecchini,ss. VictorCruzado,rf reached base on an error. Jared King,lf walked to load the bases. L. J. Mazzilli singled to drive in two runs.
Savannah reliever, Akeel Morris, was masterful striking out 9 batters in three innings of work.

Savannah Sand Gnats Win Double Header

The first game of the double header  between the Savannah Sand Gnats and the Augusta GreenJackets was played Tuesday at Grayson Stadium.
Savannah out hit Augusta 9-4 and won an exciting game, 6-5
Augusta scored three runs in the 3rd inning
Savannah scored two runs in the 3rd inning when Patrick Biondi,cf and Gavin Cecchini,ss singled and a walk to Victor Cruzado,rf loaded the bases. A single by Jared King,dh scored two runs.
Both teams scored 2 runs in the 5th inning.
Augusta leading 5-4, Savannah ties the score in the 6th inning, when Sand Gnat left fielder, Stefan Sabol hit a home run over the left field fence to tie the score at 5-5. Sabol was 3-for-3.
With the bases loaded in the bottom of the 7th inning, L.J. Mazzilli2b walked to give Savannah the 6-5 win.

Game two of the double header fans saw Savannah pitchers dominate allowed only 1 run on 3 hits. Savannah won 3-1.
Savannah scored 2 runs in the 1st inning. Back to back singles by Victor Cruzado,rf and Jared King,lf and both runners advanced a base on a wild pitch. A double by L.J. Mazzilli ,2b scored two runs. 
Sand Gnats scored their third run in the 4th inning.
Augusta scored their lone run in the 6th inning-Randy Ortiz,cf walked went to second on a wild pitch, advanced to third on a ground out and scored on a ground out.

. Lakewood Blue Claws 6 Savannah Sand Gnats 2

Game three of the four game series between the Savannah Sand Gnats and the Lakewood Blue Claws was played in front of 2,686 fans Saturday evening at Grayson Stadium. Lakewood outhit Savannah 8-6 and won 6-2.
Savannah took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning when Victor Cruzado, rf hit a home run over the right field fence.
Lakewood led 2-1 in the second inning. With two players reaching base on walks, both scored on a double by catcher, Gabriel Lino.
In the 4th inning, Lakewood scored 3 runs. Singles by Samuel Hiciano, lf ,Larry Green, Jr. dh and a walk to Gabriel Lino loaded the bases. Williams Astudillo, 1b doubled driving in three runs. 
Savannah scored 1run in the 4th, when Jared King,lf singled, stole second and scored on a double by Matt Oberste,dh.
The Blue Claws added their final run in the 6th inning.

Savannah Sand Gnats.10 Lakewood Blue Claws 1

Game two of the four game series between the Savannah Sand Gnats and the Lakewood Blue Claws was played in front of 1,978 fans Friday evening at Grayson Stadium. Savannah utilized strong pitching and timely hitting to win the game 10-1.
Lakewood scored their lone run in the 3rd inning when Carlos Tocci, CF, doubled, moved to third on a ground out and scored on a wild pitch.
Savannah scored three runs in the 4th inning. Jeff McNeil 3b, doubled, followed by a single by Victor CruzaldoRF, and both runners scored on a triple by Jared King, LF. King scored on a sac fly.
In the 7th inning, Savannah scored 5 runs on 4 hits. With two runners on base, Gavin Cecchini,ss homered over the left field fence. Another triple by King, scored two runs. Sand Gnats added two more runs in the 8th inning
Savannah starting pitcher John Michael Gant, who was born in Savannah, pitched well his first outing to pick up the win.

Lakewood Blue Claws 6 Savannah Sand Gnats 3

The Savannah Sand Gnats home opener was played against the Lakewood Blue Claws Thursday evening at Grayson Stadium. A nice crowd of  4,509 fans saw the Blue Claws win 6-3.
Lakewood scored single runs in the 4th and 6th innings. With the bases loaded in the 8th inning, Larry Greene, Jr LF, tripled to drive in three runs . A single by Wilmer Oberto, 1b, scored Green to make the score, Lakewood  6-0.
Savannah scored their three runs in the 9th inning. Stefon Sabol LF,  
fouled several pitches and drew a walk. Colton Plaia C singled sending Sabol to third. Patrick BiondiCF, hit a home run over the right field fence.
Lakewood out hit Savannah, 14-8. For Savannah, Gavin CecchiniSS was 2-for-5 and Biondi was 3-for-4.
